April 7 Play Group Meeting

Hi, everyone! The April 7, 2009 meeting of the eLearning Play Group will be held at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland. (Thank you for hosting, Ben Duffy!). We meet from 8:30am to about 10:00am to discuss a variety of eLearning topics. There is no charge and everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level or experience. We welcome newcomers! Bring your own coffee and snack. Directions can be found in a previous post, and I will also post them again at the end of March.

March 3 Play Group Meeting

Our March meeting will be held at Anthem/Wellpoint at 2 Gannett Drive in South Portland. See directions below. Many thanks to Jac Littlefield for hosting. Please RSVP to Peggy Page at margaret.page@tdbanknorth.com. You will need to sign in as you enter and be escorted to the meeting room. We meet from 830am to 1000am. Meeting is FREE to anyone interested in elearning and other electronic training support.

Directions:

From South

Drive north on I-95 and take exit 45 Maine Mall Road
Immediately after passing by the toll both on the exit ramp, take your first right towards Maine Mall road.
At the light, take a left onto Maine Mall Road.
At the second set of lights, take a right hand turn onto Cummings Rd.
On Cummings Rd, you will come to a set of lights after you pass by Target. Go straight through the lights.
After passing through the lights, take an immediate left turn onto Gannett drive
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield will be the first building on the left on Gannett drive

From North

After bearing right, you will immediately approach a fork in the road. Bear left at the fork toward Maine Mall road. You will see the Maine Mall on your right.
At the light take a left onto Maine Mall road.

March 3, 2009 Meeting

We had a great discussion at our February meeting about the future of training in a recession-riven world. We'll be meeting again on Tuesday, March 3 from 8:30am to 10:00pm, with Anthem as our host. Our Feb 3 meeting will be held at YAI - Youth Alternatives Ingraham, 50 Lydia Road, South Portland ME 04106 (many thanks to Patricia Walker for hosting!). Time: 830am-10am.

Here are directions:
From North: I-95 South to I-295 South through Portland. Take Exit 3. Bear RIGHT at the end of the exit.At the next light take a RIGHT onto Westbrook Street. Continue until you see the Brick Hill Sign on right.Turn RIGHT onto Brick Hill Avenue and continue to the last RIGHT onto Lydia Lane. Turn LEFT in parkinglot and park across from the Family Center.

From South: I- 95 North (do not exit onto I-295), Exit 46 off Maine Turnpike and turn RIGHT. At traffic light turn RIGHT. At next light turn LEFT onto Jetport Plaza Road and continue until the end. Turn RIGHT onto Westbrook Street (past Longcreek Youth Center) and turn LEFT onto Brick Hill Avenue. Go to the last RIGHT onto Lydia Lane. Turn LEFT in parking lot and park across from the Family Center.

February 2009 Meeting

Hi, all!

Our February 3 meeting will be held at YAI (Youth Alternatives) in South Portland. I will post directions shortly. We begin at 8:30 and usually go to about 10:00am. While we don't usually do "formal" presentations, we will have two reports this month from colleagues who are attending important conferences focused on e-supported learning. Margaret Kelsey will share highlights from the 2009 International Conference in London, and I will update everyone on important topics from the 2009 ASTD Tech Knowledge Conference in Las Vegas, which I will be attending.

The Play Group is an informal community of practice. All are welcome, regardless of your experience with eLearning! There is no charge for this meeting. Bring your own coffee!

June 3 Meeting Details

eLearning experts and novices alike are invited to join the monthly meeting of the eLearning Play Group. No membership fees - just come and join the discussions. We are currently starting a group project centered around Rapid eLearning, but our meetings also feature free ranging discussion. Network with eLearning professionals, get your questions answered or just enjoy the talk!

The June 3 meeting will be held at TD Banknorth in Falmouth, Maine from 8:30am - 10:30am. Take Exit 53 from the Maine Turnpike. Turn left onto Gray Road and then your next left into the TD Banknorth lot, across from Hannaford. Sign in at the front desk. Refreshments served.

May 6 Meeting at TD Banknorth in Falmouth

Our next eLearning Play group meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 6 at the TD Banknorth building at 70 Gray Road in Falmouth (directly across from Hannaford Shopping Center). Take Exit 53 (West Falmouth) from the Maine Turnpike, turn left at the end of the ramp onto Gray Road, and next left into the West Falmouth Crossing office park. Enter the TDBanknorth front door and sign in with the security desk.
Our meetings are informal and free. As always, we will discuss a variety of eLearning topics. Part of the May meeting will focus on "The Virtual Classroom: Best Practices for Live Online Training." Feel free to show examples (bring your own PC and we will provide internet access and display for sharing). Novice or expert - all are welcome!

Fairchild is located near the Maine Mall. To arrive from the North on 295, take the Jetport exit and make a right when you leave the toll area on Jetport Rd. Proceed to Western Avenue and make a right. Travel for 1/8 mile and take the first right onto Maine Mall Rd. Take your next right just after Maine Mall Motors onto Running Hill Road. After you cross the highway Fairchild will be on your left. You may park anywhere. Check in at the security desk in the lobby to receive a visitor's pass and directions to the conference room. To arrive from the South on 295, take the Maine Mall exit and stay in the right lane. Immediately after you pass the tollbooth take the exit to the mall on the right. At the light, make a right onto Maine Mall Rd. Follow Maine Mall Rd past Best Buy and you will see Tim Horton's on your left. Make a left onto Running Hill Road. After you cross the highway Fairchild will be on your left. You may park anywhere. Check in at the security desk in the lobby to receive a visitor's pass and directions to the conference room.
